Ogmore Estuary + Newton Beach, Porthcawl : 9th October 2023

Last Monday afternoon the 9th October I made a visit to the Ogmore Estuary where there was very little of interest and then moved on to Newton Beach, Porthcawl where there were good numbers of common waders mainly 70+ of both Ruddy Turnstones and Ringed Plovers both post breeding adults and juveniles.

There were also a couple each of Sanderling, Dunlin and Knot that were particularly difficult to get on to with the camera as they dodged behind the rocks.......

Around and about in Cardigan : 1st October 2023

Whilst at the caravan recently and dodging showers I made a visit to Gwbert and the coastal path via the Cliff Hotel in the hope of finding a rarity but had no such luck.

I then moved on to the Mallard Hide at Teifi Marshes where Common Kingfishers have been showing well and late afternoon at about 5.30pm a male came in to the perches to fish providing a nice opportunity for some photos albeit I had to use a stupidly high ISO to get a fast shutter speed......
