Local birder Paul Roberts reported some late Purple Sandpipers on the rocks near the gate from the car park at Ogmore-By-Sea in the first week of May moulting into summer plumage which I went and had a look for and found easily although I also found that I'm not as steady on my feet these days as I used to be when clambering over rocks !!
I think my latest record for this species is the third week of April some years ago so this date was a latest record for me and it was a thrill to view and photograph them moving into summer plumage....
