On Thursday 24th August myself and Paul Mahiques from Crymych decided to 'twitch' the Greater Short-Toed Lark that had been attracting attention lately.
Some say that the bird has been present since March 2023, others since October 2022, all that I can say is that it seems very settled.
With excellent exact location details from Martin Creasser who had visited a day or two earlier we found the bird although it did take us 30-45 minutes, once found it was fairly easy to relocate due to its very pale plumage,
It was quite flighty and didn't allow us an approach closer than about 35-40m, both of us however came away with some reasonable 'record' shots of the bird.
This bird was only my second record of the species in the UK, the first being on the haul road at Kenfig back in the early 2000s........
