I resisted the temptation to visit the Gann Estuary at Dale in Pembrokeshire yesterday for the pair of Baird's Sandpipers having decided that I wouldn't get any better photos than I took of the one at Kenfig in 2016 and so decided to stay closer to home with a visit to Crymlyn Burrows for the high tide wader roost.
I got there on a dropping tide and there were good numbers of birds present with a small group of c10 Red Knot, c30 Dunlin, c150 Sanderling, c 100 Ringed Plover, c 200 Oystercatcher and a large mixed group of gulls.
Much as I searched I couldn't find anything scarce amongst the flock but after a couple of hours I was able to get a little closer to the birds as they became used to me and I came away with some photos especially of the Red Knot that I was quite pleased with........
